Sunglint on the Alabama Waterway

.Within this June 26, 2023, photograph taken from the International Space Station, sun light polishes off the smooth waters of the Alabama River in a phenomenon called sunglint. When capturing Planet, astronauts frequently make the most of sunglint's tendency to enhance the comparison between water areas as well as surrounding land surface areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama Stream was actually stopped up, developing Dannelly Tank (the big shining area at facility left). Development of the dam also reared water levels upriver. This caused flooding at a number of points along the river. These flooded zones are actually regular of floodplains-- the low, standard places quickly beside much larger streams. In this particular photo, flooded zones appear as irregular, brilliant forms stretching far from the stream, like at Gee's Bend (center base).Text Credit History: Justin Wilkinson.Image Credit Report: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
